In the summer of 2022, we celebrated ‘the Summer of Discovery’ after being awarded the Management & Marketing Rights for three special mango varieties (which boast incredible flavour, much like the beloved Kensington Pride Mango) and three new standout avocado varieties- with great flavour and visual appeal - bred in New Zealand. Manbulloo has expanding into marketing these new varieties, shining a spotlight on these new exciting flavours and marketing for other like-minded growers who are also part of Project Flavour.

What is PROJECT FLAVOUR ?
Australia’s Mango Flavour legend Kensington Pride – the BOWEN MANGO - was established in Bowen North Queensland, Australia in the late 1880s. The ‘Kensington Pride’ or ‘KP’ mango variety was discovered as a single tree. It’s fruit amazed for its bold, sweet, aromatic and silky flesh.
Locals named it the ‘Pride of Bowen’ and KP and still is Australia’s most farmed and famous variety. 130 years later many varieties have come (and gone), only the KP variety remains as the most sought-after choice of mango lovers. Project FlavourTM began over 2 decades ago using the legendary ‘KP’. It was naturally crossed (in a breeding program) with select mango varieties to extend the season of mangoes with great flavour. After 1000s of natural crosses we now present just these 3 unique new varieties that carry the flavour of their KP parentage. With great excitement, 25 Australian growers now share their commitment to exceptional flavour with the launch of these 3 varieties.

Summer of Discovery
We called our first season with our new mangoes ‘the summer of discovery” as we learned more about each of the new varieties and started our fruitful journey introducing them to new and established domestic and export markets. Manbulloo Fruit Company soft launched our three new mango new varieties, Yess Mango (1234), Ahhh Mango (1201) and Now Mango (4069) during the 2022 summer.
Volumes available to sell are small but production is increasing every year.
